The Forum’s
vision
An
active network that enables sharing of knowledge and influences
the development of education for health and social care
practice.
Aim of the Forum
To
support those involved in both education and practice to
develop educational initiatives that reflect the health
and social care agenda, and the advancement of the member’s
knowledge and expertise.
About NLPF
The
NLPF was established in 1994 to provide a National network
for people with joint education and practice roles. The
Forum was formed in response to the growing demand for
effective partnerships between practice institutions and
education providers and the growing number of roles at
the interface between theory and practice. This is a very
exciting time for the Forum. Following the 2004 NLPF Conference,
Professor George Castledine accepted the position of President
of the NLPF. George, who has a joint education/practice
role, is keen to raise the profile of the Forum so those
individual practitioners are able to access support and
share good practice ongoing across the UK.
National conference
The Forum’s
National Conference has gone from strength to strength. It provides the opportunity
to network and to recharge the batteries. It enables practitioners to keep
abreast of research activities and to provide advice on developing posts.
The 2004 Conference held in Bournemouth was a resounding success.
Comments from participants included:
“The best
organised and relevant ‘educational’ conference I have attended”
“Really motivating
to have other peoples ‘visions’ of the way forward”
“Excellent
day. Well done to the organising team. Helped to raise enthusiasm to go on
with the LP role and advance it even further”
The 2005 conference
will focus on Agenda for Change and job evaluation in Higher Education and
the impact these will have on joint education and practice roles. It will be
held in May in Birmingham, with reduced rates for NLPF members.
Benefits of membership
Access to a national database
As a member of the Forum, you will have access to the NLPF website www.nlpf.org.uk,
where you will be able to search the database of practitioners by name
or by speciality.
The Forum has been able to put members in touch with others in similar
roles at different stages of development, to share knowledge, experience
and on-going projects. The NLPF website enables members to post examples
of local initiatives and published work to share with colleagues.
Regional networking groups
The Forum is also developing a series of regional networking groups. We have
found that often individuals are not aware of the many similar roles
in their own locality. The Forum is able to link people to provide support
and information.
National conference
Reduced
rates for NLPF members.
National networking
at the interface between education and practice
This is a great time to become a member of this National network. The
promotion of inter-professional learning, new models of education
design and delivery, the need for clinical expertise within flexible, responsive
and relevant education programmes means that there has never been
a more exciting time to be right there at the interface between education
and practice. As a member of the NLPF you will have the chance to directly
influence the future development of the Forum and help the Forum
itself influence national policy.
